2021 Festival
The 58th Annual Merrie Monarch Festival
July 1–3, 2021
After having to forego the festival in 2020 due to the pandemic, we are excited to be able to celebrate this tradition with our ʻohana hula here in Hawaiʻi and around the world. The week-long festivities typically include an arts and crafts fair with some of the most sought after Native Hawaiian artisans and designers, cultural demonstrations, hula exhibitions, and a parade that showcases the many cultures of Hawaiʻi.
In an effort, however, to mālama our kumu, ʻōlapa, judges, and the greater community in lieu of the lingering impacts of COVID-19, the 2021 hula competition will not be a public, in-person, event. It will, however, be broadcasted — on Hawaiʻi News Now’s KFVE on July 1st, 2nd, and 3rd — and streamed worldwide from hawaiinewsnow.com — beginning each night at 6:00pm HST.
Watch the 58th Annual Merrie Monarch Hula Competition on Hawaiʻi News Now each night beginning at 6:00pm HST on July 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
